From a blank notebook page to the print house: The story of creating VOWS wedding magazine
Why I created VOWS wedding magazine: Photography that lasts
There is something truly magical about the quiet of winter. When the wedding season comes to an end, the camera quiets down for a moment, and the digital world slows its pace, the time comes for reflection, dreams, and creating new worlds.
On just such a cold winter afternoon, with a warm drink in hand, I caught myself thinking about the fate of photography today.
We live in a time when we scroll through hundreds of beautiful images daily. We hold our attention on a photo for less than two seconds, after which we pass it by. Yet wedding photographs are not just digital files. They are a captured story, pure emotion, and a legacy that deserves to live much longer than a single moment on social media.
Then I asked myself: How can I bring back that true, physical experience for my newlyweds? How can I transform their memories into art that can be touched, smells of luxury paper, and endures over time?
It all started on grid paper in a notebook
The idea for VOWS didn't appear on a computer screen. It was born by hand.
I took an ordinary notebook and started sketching. Page by page, with grid paper and a pencil, I drew out the page layouts. I imagined how each layout would look, where the white space would breathe, how typography would complement the captured moments, and what the rhythm of the entire story would be.
I dreamed of a magazine that would carry the spirit and aesthetics of world-class fashion publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Kinfolk. Not just a collection of photographs, but a high-end editorial publication where wedding photography meets high fashion, architecture, and candid documentary style.
I wanted every detail to be perfect — from the weight of the paper and the matte finish to the ink that gives that velvety depth to the shadows.
Not just a catalog, but an experience and a gift
For me, VOWS magazine was never intended as a commercial product for mass sale. It was created with a much more personal mission.
I created VOWS as a physical experience and a special gift for my newlyweds, as well as for selected partners — wedding venues, boutiques, and agents, with whom we share a common vision of luxury and aesthetics.
I wanted that when a couple sits on the couch months after their wedding day, they wouldn't just open a folder on their laptop. I wanted them to hold this physical magazine in their hands, feel the texture of the paper, leaf through it with a glass of wine, and immerse themselves once again in the magic of their day — just as if they were browsing a cover story from a global fashion magazine.
The Philosophy Behind VOWS: Timeless Aesthetics Without Trends
Giving nine months for an idea to mature — from the first sketch in a notebook to the moment you hold the publication smelling of the printing house — is a process filled with immense love for art.
In the pages of VOWS, you will not find artificial poses, heavy filters, or fleeting digital trends. Here live:
- Pure emotions and micro-interactions: Captured glances, unscripted smiles, and spontaneous joy.
- Black-and-white cinematic classics: Shots with depth and contrast that never age.
- Magazine lightness: Effortless urban and portrait sessions, captured with an eye for light and composition.
